POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinical Nutrition Specialist plays a vital role in delivering tailored medical nutrition interventions to both inpatient and outpatient populations. This position is integral to the nutrition department's strategic initiatives and will involve collaboration with food service teams to ensure adherence to nutritional standards. The specialist will also engage with various departments to enhance patient care quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver personalized medical nutrition interventions based on patient needs.
  • Utilize counseling techniques and educational tools to foster positive dietary changes.
  • Evaluate patients' nutritional requirements and develop individualized care strategies.
  • Track and analyze data to assess nutritional needs and the success of interventions.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Contribute to committees as needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new service lines.
  • Engage in quality improvement projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate with various departments to meet objectives related to quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.
  • Provide training and support to food service staff to ensure compliance with nutritional guidelines.
  • Assist in meal planning and manage inventory needs.
  • Ensure proper documentation in electronic health records.
  • Conduct audits and maintain quality assurance documentation as required.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by management to support organizational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong customer service and communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently with precision.
  • Demonstrated effective use of organizational resources.
  • Familiarity with counseling methodologies and behavior modification techniques.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Nutrition or Dietetics.
  • Completion of an accredited internship recognized by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Successful completion of the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) examination.

COMPENSATION:

$35.50 per hour
