POSITION SUMMARY:

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of menu items for different meal services, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as catering for special events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor and document daily temperatures of refrigerators and freezers, along with meal temperature logs.
  • Review communication boards and emails for updates regarding menu changes.
  • Access patient diet orders through the hospital's computer system and adjust meal preparations accordingly.
  • Utilize spreadsheets for managing dietary specifications and portion control.
  • Perform dishwashing and sanitation duties as required.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, including ovens, mixers, and other appliances.
  • Assist in assembling and delivering meal trays to patients and residents.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to ensure timely meal service.
  • Adhere to health department regulations regarding food safety and personal hygiene.
  • Support the cleaning and bussing of dining areas post-meal service.
  • Provide training and orientation to new dietary staff as needed.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Attend departmental meetings and complete mandatory training as required.
  • Follow proper procedures for preparing cleaning solutions as directed.
  • Carry out additional duties as necessary for effective job performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational training in food service or a minimum of three years of experience in a food service environment, preferably in an institutional setting.
COMPENSATION:

Hourly wage of $22.58

BENEFITS:

Additional PRN differential of $2.50/hr
