POSITION SUMMARY:

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of menu items for meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as catering and special dietary needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor and record temperatures for refrigerators and freezers, as well as meal temperature logs.
  • Review communication boards and emails for updates and modifications.
  • Access and verify dietary orders for hospital patients using the computer system, noting any changes.
  • Utilize spreadsheets for dietary specifications and portion control.
  • Perform dishwashing and sanitation duties as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, including ovens, mixers, and storage areas.
  • Assist in assembling and delivering meal trays to patients and residents.
  • Ensure timely service of meals in accordance with the established schedule.
  • Adhere to health department regulations regarding food safety and personal hygiene.
  • Support the cleaning and bussing of dining areas post-meals as necessary.
  • Provide training and orientation to new dietary staff when needed.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement activities as requested.
  • Attend departmental meetings and complete mandatory training as required.
  • Follow instructions for preparing cleaning solutions as directed.
  • Perform additional duties as required for the effective execution of the role.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational training in food service or three years of relevant experience in a food service setting, preferably in an institutional environment.
COMPENSATION:

Hourly wage of $22.58

BENEFITS:

PRN Differential of $2.50/hr
