POSITION SUMMARY:

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing various menu items for meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as catering and special dietary needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor and document daily temperatures of refrigerators and freezers, along with meal temperature logs.
  • Stay updated by checking communication boards and emails for any changes or updates.
  • Review patient diet orders and make necessary adjustments based on dietary requirements.
  • Utilize spreadsheets for managing diet specifications and portion control.
  • Perform dishwashing and sanitation duties as required.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment and work areas.
  • Assist in assembling and delivering meal trays to patients and residents.
  • Support fellow staff in serving meals promptly according to the established schedule.
  • Adhere to health department regulations regarding food safety and personal hygiene.
  • Assist with cleaning dining areas post-meals as needed.
  • Provide training and orientation to new dietary staff when necessary.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement activities as requested.
  • Attend departmental meetings and complete mandatory training as required.
  • Follow manufacturer guidelines for cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Perform additional duties as required for effective job performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational training in food service or three years of relevant experience in a food service setting, preferably in an institutional environment.
COMPENSATION:

Hourly wage of $22.58

BENEFITS:

PRN Differential of $2.50/hr
