Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

§ Directs and evaluates the design of streamlined manufacturing workflows utilizing advanced systems and simulation methodologies to maximize efficiency in space, machinery, materials, and workforce.

§ Supervises the creation of facility layouts and the reconfiguration of equipment and operations to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.

§ Guarantees adherence to Process Safety Management (PSM) standards; maintains processes as necessary.

§ Remains updated on emerging manufacturing technologies and machinery; identifies opportunities for cost reduction through improved designs and methodologies.

§ Assesses modifications in processes; evaluates impacts on production and products; implements enhancements to minimize expenses and boost efficiency.

§ Applies lean manufacturing principles; promotes continuous improvement in new designs and revisions to existing ones.

§ Facilitates the introduction of current and new products through system designs and necessary updates; seeks cost-saving and reduction opportunities.

§ Reviews and ensures that suppliers and subcontractors deliver products, components, and services that meet required specifications; assists in evaluating potential vendors/subcontractors.

§ Collaborates with operations to implement quality and process enhancements and to develop new products; applies scientific principles to assess process efficiencies.

§ Oversees significant projects, processes, and performance metrics; documents all activities; ensures proper version control for documentation.

§ Manages the activities of Process Engineers assigned to the team; oversees workload, performance, and daily supervision; mentors team members for personal growth and potential career advancement; provides performance feedback for merit increases and other relevant employment actions.

§ Partners with other team leaders to allocate suitable engineering resources for projects and processes; considers project costs, scale, and complexity.

§ Acts as a liaison to Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms for capital expenditure and operational projects.

§ Develops the annual capital plan and budget for process engineering; ensures expenditures align with the plan; monitors spending; prepares reports for management on any discrepancies in costs, timelines, and overall strategies.

§ Collaborates with other technical managers to prioritize capital and operational project needs and allocate appropriate resources; maintains regular operations reports; provides data to relevant management.

§ Engages key resources within Operations and other departments to spearhead Continuous Improvement initiatives; advocates for strategies to enhance safety, quality, cost, and reliability.

§ Conducts gap analyses to pinpoint future technological advancements for processes or the entire facility.

§ Evaluates process efficiency, quality, and safety; recommends improvements as necessary.

§ Supports investigations of incidents; offers suggestions as appropriate; participates in risk management assessments.

§ Complies with all safety protocols and practices relevant to the position; engages in necessary safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) principles and values; champions safety consistently; participates in and/or leads safety initiatives or projects as appropriate.

§ Performs additional tasks as assigned by management that generally align with the expected scope of this role.

Qualifications & Skills Required

§ A minimum of 10 years in the chemical manufacturing sector.

§ At least 10 years of experience in a process engineering setting with a focus on projects.

§ Expertise in process design.

§ A minimum of 8 years of leadership experience.

§ Background as a Process Engineer.

§ Current knowledge of process engineering design, project execution, and OSHA regulations for engineering design.

§ Proven ability to cultivate trusting relationships; capacity to manage, inspire, coach, and collaborate with others.

§ Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment; goal-oriented; skilled in influencing and negotiation.

§ Effective time management skills are essential.

§ Ability to work collaboratively across various functions.

§ Capability to mentor and guide others in project management, technology, and process design.

§ High levels of enthusiasm and motivation are essential.

§ Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and follow through on assignments.

§ Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to utilize database systems, CAD software, and other relevant applications.

§ Proficient in English, including reading, writing, and speaking; ability to communicate clearly at all organizational levels.

Educational Background

§ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.

§ Professional Engineer Certification is highly desirable.

§ Six Sigma Certification is a plus.

Work Environment

This position requires the employee to work in an office setting as well as be exposed to outdoor elements. The most extreme conditions may include heat during summer months and occasional cold during winter months. There will be exposure to various chemicals and compounds, including fumes and odors, some of which may be hazardous. The employee may need to enter confined spaces and work at heights. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required by the location. General office noise may be present, along with louder sounds and vibrations when outdoors. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. All environments are safe with appropriate PPE.
