Position Summary

This role is pivotal in orchestrating, structuring, and managing resources and processes to fulfill project objectives within defined scope, timeline, quality, and budget parameters related to extensive turnarounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops comprehensive turnaround work packages and collaborates with maintenance planners to establish schedules.
  • Supervises contractors and subcontractors executing tasks during the turnaround.
  • Formulates plans to avert or lessen risks associated with unsafe working conditions during turnarounds.
  • Creates, tracks, and reports on turnaround performance metrics concerning safety, schedule adherence, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Engages with various plant departments to define turnaround work scope, safety protocols, and budgetary requirements.
  • Identifies critical paths and associated costs for the turnaround, providing regular progress updates.
  • Collaborates with client operations and maintenance teams throughout the turnaround process.
  • Generates a bill of materials (BOM) for each task to be accomplished.
  • Facilitates and leads strategic and tactical planning meetings focused on risk-based turnaround work selection.
  • Ensures adherence to the turnaround schedule and updates it based on ongoing work.
  • Interacts with stakeholders in accordance with Turnaround Work Management protocols.
  • Inputs data for project budget considerations related to the turnaround.
  • Contributes to the development of turnaround planning tools.
  • Manages logistics for rental equipment, materials, and long lead items.
  • Conducts PSSR walkdowns and addresses punch list items.
  • Oversees MOC P&ID verification processes.
  • Verifies mechanical completion against redlined P&IDs.
  • Monitors contractor safety performance while coordinating projects.
  • Leads daily safety briefings with contractors, ensuring clarity on job tasks and safety measures.
  • Tracks contractor updates to the schedule on a daily basis.
  • Creates plot plans to enhance understanding of equipment locations for employees and contractors.
  • Assists the EHSS team with procedural requirements as necessary.
  • Identifies long lead items during the planning phase to ensure timely equipment delivery.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols relevant to the position and location; engages in safety training; promotes and supports EHSS principles and values; actively participates in safety initiatives.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management that align with the expected scope of this role.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Extensive experience in planning piping and/or structural work scopes.
  • Proficient in estimating material and labor requirements from industrial construction drawings across various craft disciplines.
  • Familiarity with planning software applications is preferred.
  • Knowledge of petrochemical SAP and Microsoft programs is advantageous.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance in an industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated accuracy in work; knowledge of drafting is a plus.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Strong data collection and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Positive demeanor; adaptable; team-oriented.
  • Experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and follow through on assignments.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite; capable of utilizing database systems and relevant applications.
  • Fluency in English, encompassing reading, writing, and speaking; ability to communicate clearly across all organizational levels.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or a minimum of four years of hands-on mechanical craft experience.
  • NCCER certification, craft journeyman, or foreman status in industrial construction, maintenance, or turnarounds is preferred.

This position requires work in an office setting, outdoors, and exposure to various chemicals and compounds, including potentially hazardous fumes and odors. During construction phases, the employee will operate in a construction zone with inherent hazards. The role may involve entering confined spaces and working at heights. Employees may experience temperature variations from -10 degrees F to over 100 degrees F outdoors. Compliance with PPE requirements is mandatory. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate, with louder sounds and vibrations present in outdoor settings. All environments are maintained safely with appropriate PPE.
