The Role

Title: Senior Vice President of Community Engagement

Location: Atlanta, Georgia

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Team: Oversees a team of 9 direct reports

Overview:

The Senior Vice President of Community Engagement is tasked with spearheading the interaction and engagement initiatives between Atlanta Housing and its residents, as well as other significant stakeholders. This role is pivotal in enhancing the resident experience, fostering economic independence, and collaborating with internal, governmental, and various stakeholders dedicated to the success of Atlanta Housing's mission.

This leadership position entails not only strategic oversight but also direct involvement in executing initiatives that ensure a positive resident experience and maintain essential external relationships with participants, residents, governmental bodies, foundations, social service organizations, community partners, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development and Execution

  • Identify, develop, and actively engage in programs and initiatives that empower youth, adults, and seniors from resident families to achieve skills and opportunities that promote economic and lifestyle independence, while also enhancing the well-being of senior residents.
  • Lead and supervise the formulation and execution of comprehensive human development programs and initiatives that support the diverse needs of resident youth, adults, and seniors.
  • Address and resolve resident concerns and issues, including adherence to Housing Choice Program regulations, while fostering positive community relations.
  • Encourage community involvement by creating volunteer opportunities that connect Atlanta Housing staff with the diverse populations served.
  • Initiate and support educational and training programs for youth to ensure they receive the necessary resources for success in their academic and career pursuits.
  • Promote healthy aging initiatives that enable residents to thrive within their communities.
  • Assist individuals transitioning from public assistance to economic self-sufficiency.
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with nonprofit organizations to enhance program delivery and improve resident outcomes.
  • Provide marketing and event support for Atlanta Housing-hosted initiatives.

Professional Experience:

  • Over 10 years of relevant managerial or leadership experience in Human Development, Resident Services, or similar fields.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead, manage, and assess a diverse and experienced team.
  • Comprehensive understanding of economic and lifestyle strategies aimed at supporting residents of all ages.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development affordable housing programs and regulations.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

  • Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Atlanta Housing.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of residents, employees, and public/private sector partners.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, internal clients, partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills, capable of managing multiple priorities to meet established goals.
  • Exemplary judgment, diplomacy, reasoning, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to manage various projects and refine business processes.
  • Ability to thrive in an environment characterized by shifting priorities.
  • Proficiency in current office technology and software applications.

Education:

  • A Master's Degree or higher from an accredited institution.

Compensation:

  • Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience, with an anticipated base salary range of $133,100 - $169,100.
