Role Summary:

The Vice President of Community Engagement is tasked with spearheading Atlanta Housing's interactions with residents and key stakeholders. This role is pivotal in enhancing the resident experience, fostering economic and lifestyle independence, and collaborating with internal, governmental, and other partners dedicated to advancing Atlanta Housing's mission.

This leadership role not only oversees strategic initiatives but also requires hands-on execution to ensure a positive resident experience and maintain essential external relationships, including those with residents, governmental entities, foundations, social service organizations, community partners, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development and Implementation

  • Design and engage in initiatives that empower youth, adults, and seniors within the Atlanta Housing community to develop skills and seize opportunities for economic and lifestyle independence, while promoting the well-being of senior residents.
  • Lead the creation and execution of comprehensive human development programs aimed at supporting the diverse needs of resident families.
  • Address and resolve resident concerns, including compliance issues, while fostering positive community relations.
  • Encourage community involvement by establishing volunteer opportunities that connect Atlanta Housing staff with the diverse population served.
  • Initiate programs that provide youth with the necessary education, training, and support services for success in their academic and career endeavors.
  • Promote healthy aging and community engagement, enabling residents to thrive.
  • Assist individuals transitioning from public assistance to economic self-sufficiency.
  • Build and nurture strategic partnerships with nonprofit organizations to enhance program delivery and improve resident outcomes.
  • Support marketing and event planning for Atlanta Housing-sponsored activities.

Professional Experience:

  • Over 10 years of managerial experience in Human Development, Resident Services, or related fields.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and assess a diverse and experienced team.
  • In-depth understanding of strategies that promote economic and lifestyle independence for residents of all ages.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development affordable housing programs.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Atlanta Housing.
  • Effective communication skills across all levels of residents, employees, and business partners.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, internal clients, partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, capable of managing multiple priorities to meet goals.
  • Sound judgment, diplomacy, and analytical skills are essential.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, complemented by strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in managing various projects and refining business processes.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
  • Proficient in current office technology and software applications.

Education:

  • A Master's Degree or higher from an accredited institution.
