Title: Vice President of Community Engagement

Location: Atlanta, Georgia

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Team: Leads a team of 9 direct reports

Role Summary:

The Vice President of Community Engagement is tasked with spearheading Atlanta Housing's interactions with residents and key stakeholders. This role is pivotal in enhancing the resident experience, fostering economic independence, and collaborating with internal and external partners dedicated to advancing Atlanta Housing's mission.

This leadership role not only involves strategic oversight but also requires hands-on execution to ensure the delivery of effective programs and initiatives that positively impact resident engagement and external relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development and Implementation

  • Design and actively engage in initiatives that empower residents of all ages, promoting skills and opportunities for economic and lifestyle independence.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of comprehensive human development programs aimed at supporting resident youth, adults, and seniors.
  • Address and resolve resident concerns, ensuring compliance with housing regulations while fostering positive community relations.
  • Encourage community involvement by creating volunteer opportunities that connect staff with the diverse resident population.
  • Initiate programs that provide youth with the necessary education, training, and support for successful career paths.
  • Advocate for healthy aging, enabling residents to thrive within their communities.
  • Assist individuals transitioning from public assistance to economic self-sufficiency.
  • Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with nonprofit organizations to enhance program delivery and resident outcomes.
  • Support marketing and event planning for Atlanta Housing-sponsored activities.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of relevant managerial experience in Human Development, Resident Services, or similar fields.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and assess a diverse team effectively.
  • Deep understanding of strategies that promote economic and lifestyle independence for residents.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development regulations and affordable housing programs.

  • Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Atlanta Housing.
  • Exceptional communication skills to engage effectively with residents, employees, and business partners.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders in a constructive manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Sound judgment, diplomacy, and analytical skills are essential.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, complemented by strong interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to manage various projects and refine business processes as needed.
  • Proficiency in current office technologies and software applications.

Educational Requirements:

  • A Master's Degree or higher from an accredited institution.
