About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Executive Vice President to join our Mergers and Acquisitions team at Dow Jones & Company, Inc.

As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a crucial role in executing our growth strategy through identifying, evaluating, negotiating, and integrating acquisitions.

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Strategy, you will lead a team of professionals and manage complex projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Refine Growth Strategy: Collaborate with the SVP of Strategy to define and refine the Dow Jones B2B inorganic growth strategy, identifying target markets and companies that align with our strategic objectives.
  • Acquisition Target Identification: Lead the identification, evaluation, and prioritization of potential acquisition targets, conducting market research and financial analysis to assess strategic fit and value.
  • Due Diligence and Negotiation: Oversee and coordinate comprehensive due diligence processes, working closely with internal teams and external advisors to ensure thorough evaluation of potential targets. Lead negotiations with target companies, structuring deals and managing the transaction process from initial contact through closing.
  • Integration Planning and Execution: Own integration planning and execution, ensuring smooth transitions and alignment with Dow Jones's operational and strategic goals.
  • Team Management: Manage and mentor the M&A team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, board members, and advisors, providing regular updates on M&A activities and progress.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with M&A transactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
  • Process Improvement: Drive the development and implementation of best practices and processes within the M&A function to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. An MBA or relevant advanced degree is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in M&A, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Experience within a strategic corporate environment is highly desirable.
  • Track Record: Proven track record of successfully leading and executing complex B2B M&A transactions.
  • Skills: Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with experience assessing and valuing potential acquisition targets. Excellent negotiation and deal structuring capabilities. Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with experience influencing and building relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
