Position Details

Title: Employee Relations Counselor
Department: Human Resources
Classification: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: NE4W
Supervisor: Human Resources Manager

Position Summary:
The Employee Relations Counselor is tasked with addressing and resolving the concerns of both team members and management within the Grand Canyon Resort Corporation. This role involves listening to issues, conducting thorough investigations to gather relevant information from all parties, and providing guidance to management on how to effectively handle the matters at hand. Compliance with all applicable Tribal, federal, and state regulations is essential. Additional responsibilities may include various Human Resource functions as assigned. The individual in this role is expected to represent the interests of the Hualapai Tribe at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Take responsibility for all employee relations matters from both frontline staff and management at GCRC, primarily at the Grand Canyon West site.
2. Investigate all reported issues, including harassment and hostile work environments, ensuring comprehensive information is collected and presented to management for informed decision-making.
3. Stay informed and ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Recommend updates to departmental or company policies as necessary.
4. Foster, develop, and maintain effective communication and strong relationships with all department leaders, ensuring the needs of other departments are identified and met efficiently.
5. Conduct all activities with the utmost integrity.
6. Adhere to all HR departmental protocols.
7. Safeguard the confidentiality of sensitive information entrusted to the position.
8. Keep the HR Manager and executive team informed of ongoing issues and concerns.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
2. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Human Resources or a role involving arbitration, mediation, or counseling is required.
3. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Human Resources or a related role is required.
4. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and support to team members and guests in a professional manner is required.
5. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational skills.
7. Experience with Tribal entities is preferred.
8. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
9. Preference will be given to Hualapai Tribal members.

Physical Requirements:
1. Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, bend for extended periods; reach with hands and arms; communicate effectively in person or via telecommunications.
2. Must be able to concentrate for extended periods.
3. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
4. Must possess the manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, touchscreen, telephone, and calculator.
5. Frequently lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.

Conditions of Employment:
1. Must provide authorization to work in the United States.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
3. Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and be eligible to operate a company vehicle.
4. Must comply with the GCRC Team Member Handbook, internal policies, and all rules and regulations established by GCRC and the Tribe.

Work Environment:
The work environment will include both indoor and outdoor settings across multiple business locations, with exposure to various weather conditions such as heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow. Occasional travel for meetings and assignments may be required. Extended and irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be necessary to meet business needs. The ability to perform under pressure and manage stressful situations is essential.
