Position Details

Supervisor: Human Resources Manager

Position Summary:
The Employee Relations Counselor is tasked with addressing and resolving concerns raised by team members and management within the Grand Canyon Resort Corporation. This role involves actively listening to issues, conducting thorough investigations to gather relevant information from all involved parties, and providing guidance to management on appropriate resolutions. The counselor will ensure adherence to all applicable Tribal, federal, and state regulations. Additional responsibilities may encompass various Human Resource functions as assigned. The individual will represent the Hualapai Tribe's interests and values at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage all employee relations matters from both frontline staff and leadership at GCRC, primarily at the Grand Canyon West site.
2. Conduct investigations into all reported concerns, including harassment and hostile work environments, ensuring comprehensive information is collected and presented to management for informed decision-making.
3. Stay informed and ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Recommend necessary updates to departmental or company policies.
4. Foster and maintain effective communication and relationships with department leaders, ensuring the needs of various departments are met efficiently.
5. Execute all duties with the utmost integrity.
6. Adhere to all HR departmental protocols.
7. Safeguard the confidentiality of sensitive information.
8. Keep the HR Manager and executive team informed of ongoing issues and concerns.
9. Perform additional related duties as required.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
2. At least two (2) years of experience in Human Resources or a role involving arbitration, mediation, or counseling is required.
3. Alternatively, a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Human Resources or a related role may substitute for a degree.
4. Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service and support to team members and guests in a professional manner is required.
5. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent organizational abilities.
7. Experience with Tribal entities is preferred.
8. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
9. Preference will be given to Hualapai Tribal members.

Physical Requirements:
1. Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, and bend for extended periods; reach with hands and arms; communicate effectively in person or via telecommunications.
2. Must maintain focus for prolonged periods.
3. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
4. Must possess the manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, touchscreen, telephone, and calculator.
5. Frequently lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.

Employment Conditions:
1. Must provide authorization to work in the United States.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
3. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and be eligible to operate a company vehicle.
4. Must comply with the GCRC Team Member Handbook and all internal policies and regulations.

Work Environment:
The work environment will include both indoor and outdoor settings across various business locations, exposing the employee to extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow. Occasional travel for meetings and assignments may be required. Extended and irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be necessary to meet business needs. The role requires the ability to perform under pressure and manage stressful situations, including interactions with upset team members and guests.
