Supervisor: Lead Airport Operations Specialist

Position Summary:
The primary role involves providing maintenance and support services at the Grand Canyon West Airport, along with assisting in emergency scenarios. Responsibilities include performing tasks such as painting, grounds maintenance, mowing, road repairs, operating heavy machinery, and maintaining runways and airport facilities. The position also requires adherence to OSHA standards and FAA regulations while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Offer suggestions to the Lead for enhancing maintenance programs.
  2. Conduct maintenance and repairs on equipment, structures, vehicles, and runways, which may involve various tasks including painting and snow removal.
  3. Monitor equipment conditions, identify repair needs, and maintain logs of maintenance activities.
  4. Interpret maintenance manuals and apply the information effectively.
  5. Understand and apply relevant policies, laws, and regulations related to airport operations and emergency services.
  6. Complete required training in Airport Firefighting and Rescue, participating in drills.
  7. Attend FAA/AAAE Basic Airport Safety and Operations Specialist School or equivalent training.
  8. Assist in emergency situations as required.
  9. Maintain equipment in a clean and operational state.
  10. Properly handle and use chemicals in compliance with OSHA guidelines.
  11. Engage with visitors, providing information about the Grand Canyon West and Hualapai culture.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Minimum of two years of general maintenance experience.
  2. Ability to perform maintenance, repair, and firefighting duties, including operating heavy equipment.
  3. Capability to read and comprehend maintenance manuals and service information.
  4. Effective communication skills and proficiency in using radio equipment.
  5. Ability to monitor and report on the condition of equipment and structures.
  6. Willingness to complete necessary training courses.
  7. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to foster positive relationships.
  8. Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Two years of general maintenance experience.
  2. Willingness to undergo Airport Rescue Firefighting training.
  3. Completion of required educational courses during employment.
  4. Strong verbal communication skills.
  5. Valid Driver's License with a clean record.
  6. High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in airport operations.
  2. Relevant training or certifications (e.g., diesel mechanic, electrical, plumbing).
  3. Three or more years of general maintenance experience.
  4. OSHA Certifications.
  5. Interest in additional cross-training opportunities.

Working Conditions:
The role requires the ability to work both indoors and outdoors for extended periods, regardless of weather conditions. Physical demands include walking, standing, bending, and lifting items up to 100 lbs. Flexibility to work varying schedules, including weekends and holidays, is essential.
