Position Summary:
The Water Line Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of water lines across all facilities within the Grand Canyon West area. This role involves various tasks including welding, operating heavy machinery, installing insulation, and performing plumbing maintenance and repairs. The technician may also support Maintenance Technicians with related tasks, ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations while delivering excellent customer service.


Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Proficient in performing maintenance and repair tasks on water lines, with the capability to operate heavy machinery.
  2. Ability to comprehend and utilize operating, maintenance, and repair manuals, including online resources.
  3. Skilled in monitoring the condition of equipment, machinery, water lines, and pump stations.
  4. Physical capability to walk, stand, bend, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  5. Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  6. Strong teamwork skills with the ability to foster positive working relationships, alongside good customer service abilities.
  7. Capacity to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct maintenance and repairs on PVC and poly pipes, pump stations, and insulation installation, potentially utilizing heavy equipment.
2. Keep detailed logs of maintenance and repair activities while monitoring equipment conditions.
3. Translate maintenance and repair manuals into actionable tasks.
4. Assist in various maintenance and repair activities as needed.
5. Engage with visitors, providing information about the area and its cultural significance.
6. Ensure maintenance equipment is kept in a clean and safe condition, adhering to all safety policies.
7. Operate heavy machinery as required for water line maintenance and repairs.
8. Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
1. Required certification for water distribution.
2. Effective oral communication skills.
3. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
4. High School Diploma or GED.


Working Conditions:
This position necessitates the ability to work both indoors and outdoors for extended periods, regardless of weather conditions. The role requires physical stamina to walk, stand, bend, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds. Flexibility in scheduling, including weekends and holidays, is essential.
