Supervisor: Lead Airport Operations Specialist

Position Summary:
The primary role involves providing maintenance and support services at the Grand Canyon West Airport, along with assisting in emergency scenarios. Key responsibilities include maintenance tasks such as painting, grounds upkeep, mowing, road repairs, and operating heavy machinery. This position also entails ensuring compliance with safety regulations and delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Offer suggestions to the Lead regarding enhancements for ongoing maintenance initiatives.
  2. Conduct maintenance and repairs on various equipment, structures, and vehicles at the airport, including tasks like painting, grounds maintenance, and snow removal.
  3. Monitor equipment conditions, document maintenance activities, and identify repair needs.
  4. Interpret maintenance manuals and apply the information effectively.
  5. Understand and apply relevant policies, procedures, and regulations related to airport operations and emergency services.
  6. Complete required training in Airport Firefighting and Rescue, participating in scheduled drills.
  7. Attend FAA/AAAE Basic Airport Safety and Operations Specialist School or equivalent training.
  8. Assist in emergency situations as required.
  9. Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of maintenance equipment.
  10. Properly handle and use chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines.
  11. Provide information and assistance to visitors regarding the airport and local culture.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  1. Minimum of two years of general maintenance experience.
  2. Ability to perform maintenance, repair, and emergency response duties effectively.
  3. Proficient in reading and understanding maintenance manuals.
  4. Effective communication skills and familiarity with radio equipment.
  5. Ability to monitor and report on equipment conditions.
  6. Willingness to participate in ongoing training.
  7. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to maintain positive relationships.
  8. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Two years of general maintenance experience.
  2. Willingness to undergo Airport Rescue Firefighting training.
  3. Ability to complete required educational courses promptly.
  4. Good verbal communication skills.
  5. Valid Driver's License with a clean record.
  6. High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in airport operations.
  2. Relevant training or certifications (e.g., diesel mechanic, electrical, plumbing).
  3. Three or more years of general maintenance experience.
  4. OSHA Certifications.
  5. Willingness to engage in additional training opportunities.

Working Conditions:
This position requires the ability to work both indoors and outdoors for extended periods, regardless of weather conditions. The role involves physical activities, including lifting items up to 100 lbs. and working varying schedules, including weekends and holidays.
