Position Overview:

Under the direct guidance of the Venue Manager, the Host/Hostess plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth and courteous food and beverage operations. This includes welcoming guests, anticipating their needs, delivering knowledgeable service, and maintaining professional guest relations with a friendly demeanor. The role requires effective teamwork and adherence to all food handling and alcohol service policies, as well as internal controls of the establishment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional service to all patrons.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure seamless service during food offerings and specials.
  • Manage and confirm daily reservations.
  • Welcome and seat guests at their tables.
  • Utilize POS systems for sales transactions, manage cash, and provide change as necessary.
  • Prepare bills, itemize orders, and balance tickets accurately.
  • Handle cash transactions and manage check tendering.
  • Oversee floor seating arrangements and setup.
  • Maintain an organized reservation system with accurate database management.
  • Keep the host/hostess station tidy and well-stocked.
  • Contribute to team efforts and achieve related goals.
  • Inspect dining areas for cleanliness and requisition necessary supplies.
  • Ensure menus are clean and complete.
  • Maintain cleanliness of entry points.
  • Communicate with management regarding large or private events.
  • Maintain seating charts and manage reservation organization.
  • Distribute guests evenly among servers.
  • Maintain constant communication with servers and kitchen staff for efficient service.
  • Exhibit high energy and a motivated attitude.
  • Adhere to attendance policies.
  • Be flexible and ready to take on additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will possess a high school diploma or GED, along with recent experience in a high-volume restaurant setting as a server or host. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and able to obtain a Food Handlers card. A clean background with no felony or theft convictions is required.

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Understanding of dining and food service operations.
  • Familiarity with menu items.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in basic English.
  • Demonstrated commitment to outstanding guest service.
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor when serving guests.
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Awareness of state laws regarding alcohol service.
  • Familiarity with POS and reservation systems.
  • Commitment to internal controls and consistent adherence to policies.
Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to stand, use hands for handling, reach with arms, and communicate verbally. Frequent walking is required, with occasional sitting and bending. Employees must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Work is typically conducted in resort venues and kitchen areas, with exposure to varying temperatures, fumes, steam, and elevated noise levels. Availability for days, evenings, swing shifts, holidays, and weekends is necessary, along with the potential for extended hours and irregular shifts.
