JOB SUMMARY

The Lead Procurement Specialist is accountable for the acquisition of both Inventory and Non-Inventory commodities essential for supporting Manufacturing, Engineering, and R&D Operations. This role necessitates sound judgment, innovative thinking, and a strong adherence to established policies and procedures. The specialist will also ensure timely delivery of goods while managing projects, analyzing data, collaborating within a team, and meeting critical deadlines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for supply chain inquiries.
  • Collaborate with various locations and partners on strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Proactively seek information as necessary.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Identify and communicate critical path items for business operations.
  • Utilize a computerized procurement system (SAP) for generating and verifying reports, blanket purchase orders, and various purchase orders in compliance with procurement policies.
  • Establish and maintain sources of supply for materials, equipment, and services, working closely with Engineering and user personnel for technical support and approvals.
  • Maintain an updated list of qualified vendors and procurement documentation.
  • Review and clarify requisition descriptions, resolving delivery lead-time issues and obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Develop and evaluate bid packages and vendor responses.
  • Gather and document quotes from vendors through written and verbal communication.
  • Identify new suppliers to enhance cost efficiency and service quality.
  • Prepare and process various types of purchase orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Expedite procurement activities as directed.
  • Manage blanket purchase orders, ensuring compliance with expiration dates and monetary limits.
  • Optimize inventory levels while ensuring supply availability through lean manufacturing practices.
  • Engage in additional responsibilities such as attending staff meetings, vendor visits, and preparing necessary documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Training
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field.
  • Completion of EHS assigned regulatory training as per the company's EHS Training Matrix.
Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or production procurement.
  • 7+ years of experience in procurement activities, particularly in the utility or manufacturing sectors.
  • 2+ years of experience with SAP and its procurement functionalities.
  • Preferred experience in the Power Generation sector.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen.
  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing markets.
  • Understanding of construction and mechanical drawings.
  • Proficient in planning and IT skills, including MS Office and SAP.
