Job Overview

POSITION: Maintenance Technician

STATUS: Hourly Non-Exempt

Job Summary

The primary responsibilities of this role encompass a variety of essential functions, including but not limited to:

  • Engaging in the setup of machinery and determining the specifications for tools and fixtures.
  • Ensuring compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards and quality requirements for all equipment.
  • Conducting risk assessments in collaboration with supervisory staff and EHS representatives.
  • Coordinating preliminary and final acceptance testing of workshop machinery in partnership with Engineering and Procurement.
  • Addressing warranty concerns in conjunction with the Purchasing department.
  • Providing training to personnel on the operation of specific machinery, tools, or fixtures.
  • Verifying that EHS labels on tools and equipment are correctly applied in accordance with regulations.
  • Establishing and maintaining a database for preventive maintenance and calibration requirements in collaboration with Quality Assurance.
  • Organizing maintenance activities in cooperation with Cell Leads and Supervisors.
  • Managing the inventory of consumables for each machine, including stock levels and supply requirements.
  • Monitoring equipment uptime and planning maintenance outages in conjunction with the planning team.
  • Participating in the evaluation of new machinery to enhance production efficiency.
  • Contributing to process improvement initiatives and cost reduction strategies, implementing the resulting actions.
  • Delivering guidance to production staff as per assigned responsibilities.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation & Training
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Completion of EHS regulatory training as outlined in the EHS Training Matrix.
Skills & Experience
  • Over 5 years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of various workshop equipment.
  • More than 5 years of experience troubleshooting equipment failures.
  • At least 5 years of experience in establishing equipment specifications and acceptance testing protocols.
  • 5+ years of experience in creating operational procedures for workshop machinery.
  • 5+ years of experience in planning and executing preventive maintenance strategies.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience conducting risk assessments in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient understanding of EHS regulations and compliance codes related to production equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, reach, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform pushing and pulling tasks.
  • Proficient in grasping and performing repetitive motions with hands and fingers.
  • Close visual acuity required for tasks such as data analysis, visual inspections, and operating machinery.
  • Exposure to noise levels that may require shouting to communicate.
  • Working in proximity to moving mechanical parts and potential exposure to hazardous conditions.
  • Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) for specific tasks.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with others.
