About the Role

The Senior Director, Business Development at Babson College is a key member of the executive team responsible for driving revenue growth and business development initiatives. This role requires a seasoned sales professional with a proven track record of success in generating new business opportunities and managing existing relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Development
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to drive revenue growth and expand the college's presence in the market.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through research, networking, and outreach efforts.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and colleagues.
  • Sales and Marketing
    • Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies to drive revenue growth and increase brand awareness.
    • Manage and execute sales campaigns, including lead generation, qualification, and conversion.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute marketing campaigns.
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Lead and manage a team of sales and business development professionals to achieve revenue growth and business development goals.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance sales and business development skills.
    • Provide coaching and feedback to team members to ensure they are meeting their sales and business development goals.
  • Strategic Planning and Analysis
    • Develop and execute strategic plans to drive revenue growth and business development initiatives.
    • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to inform business development strategies.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and colleagues.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or similar advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 10+ years of quota-carrying/closing sales experience; and a minimum of 5+ years of seven-figure annual sales results.
    • Proven track record of success in generating new business opportunities and managing existing relationships.
    • Experience selling high-priced, intangible/conceptual products with long sales cycles.
  • Skills
    • Deep experience in consultative sales and the ability to lead need analysis and provide feedback and leadership in defining client needs.
    • Superior communication skills, including the ability to communicate, present, assert, and speak to all stakeholders involved.
    • Exceptional negotiation and closing skills.
    • Ability to collaborate with multiple parties from inside and outside the college to build relationships, influence, manage conflicts, and navigate through office politics to get things done.
    • Strong research and strategic analysis skills, including the ability to benchmark the competition and outperform the college's competition.
