Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Director, Insurance Business Development to join our team at Sun Life Financial. As a key member of our insurance business development team, you will be responsible for representing our investment strategies in a defined segment of the insurance channel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to generate new business and build the reputation of Sun Life Financial within a defined sales territory covering insurance companies across the U.S.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance executives to promote our investment strategies and solutions.
  • Collaborate with our Client Relationships team to develop cross-selling opportunities with existing clients.
  • Work closely with our Insurance Client Solutions Team to develop bespoke client solutions, multi-asset strategies, and thought leadership content.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in an insurance business development role with demonstrated success.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to formulate and execute against a business plan.
  • Extensive knowledge of institutional insurance portfolios, strong asset class knowledge, and an in-depth understanding of the competitive landscape and industry trends.
  • Insight into insurance regulatory developments.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) with the ability to explain complex ideas in a simple way.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence to nurture and grow relationships and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to think and perform strategically, bringing innovative solutions to complex prospect situations.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter.
  • A winning attitude and highly charged, positive disposition.
  • A willingness and ability to travel regularly.
  • CFA designation preferred.
  • FINRA Series 7 & 63 & 3 preferred or willingness to pass the exams upon hire.
