Position Overview

GREATER PHILADELPHIA URBAN AFFAIRS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the diversity within the construction sector in Philadelphia. Collaborating with prominent developers, property owners, contractors, trade associations, and unions, we strive to create equitable opportunities and prepare underrepresented contractors and workers to contribute significantly to the growth of Philadelphia.

The Outreach & Engagement Coordinator (OEC) is a Full-Time, exempt role that plays a vital part in our mission, focusing on workforce programming and community engagement. This position will work closely with our workforce program partners and participants, as well as engage with community members, organizations, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities include promoting program awareness, supporting participant recruitment, and facilitating outreach and engagement initiatives. The OEC will assist our workforce program partners and participants in achieving success, particularly for underrepresented groups in the construction field. Collaborating with the Manager of Workforce Programs, the OEC will coordinate events, manage participant data, and provide essential support to ensure impactful outreach to diverse communities.

Key Responsibilities

Awareness & Engagement

  • Assist in various workforce awareness and engagement initiatives, including creating and distributing outreach materials, attending recruitment meetings, and coordinating informational sessions.
  • Support the planning and execution of events and initiatives to raise awareness about GREATER PHILADELPHIA URBAN AFFAIRS and its workforce program partners.
  • Build and maintain a network of local social service providers to ensure participants have access to a wide range of resources.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with stakeholders in the construction industry, particularly trades unions and contractors.

Supportive Services

  • Assist participants and graduates in overcoming individual barriers by assessing needs and providing essential support services, such as transportation and childcare assistance.
  • Coordinate monthly group engagement calls and virtual workshops for program participants and graduates, including preparation of materials and follow-up.
  • Conduct regular outreach to program graduates to assess their status, identify needs, and facilitate access to supportive services.
  • Track and evaluate participant progress, tailoring support strategies to maximize success.
  • Collaborate with the manager to manage and distribute barrier reduction funds to partner programs.
  • Maintain professional relationships with community partners through effective referrals and resource sharing.

Data Management

  • Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of participant data to ensure accurate tracking of engagement and outcomes.
  • Support the preparation of reports and presentations to communicate insights and updates to stakeholders.

Administrative Duties & Special Projects

  • Perform general administrative tasks as needed.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special projects.
  • Attend meetings and events outside of regular hours as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a High School diploma.
  • Experience in workforce development, training, or a related field such as construction trades or apprenticeships is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively, demonstrating strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
  • General case management experience is advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Annual salary starting at $55,000, commensurate with education and relevant experience.
  • This is a hybrid position requiring regular office attendance and participation in in-person meetings.
