The Community Engagement Specialist is a vital role focused on fostering connections with individuals facing homelessness or economic challenges, particularly those with behavioral health needs. This position emphasizes the importance of building trust and meaningful relationships with participants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize personal experiences to cultivate supportive and trusting relationships with participants.
  • Assist individuals in identifying and accessing essential community resources to enhance their success.
  • Facilitate connections to temporary housing options, which may involve transportation to various community facilities.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to all organizational policies and procedures, reporting any violations appropriately.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the mission of Mental Health Partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working with individuals facing homelessness or mental health challenges.
  • Certification as a Peer Specialist is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Basic computer proficiency is necessary, including familiarity with desktop applications, email, and electronic health records.
  • Ability to enter data using mobile devices while in the field.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with a partner and complete tasks as instructed.
  • Must maintain composure under pressure while delivering excellent customer service.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit at a desk with appropriate ergonomic equipment.
  • Capability to lift items weighing up to 15 lbs.
  • Must meet productivity standards safely and effectively, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Frequent communication is required, necessitating clear speaking and listening skills.
  • Regular, punctual attendance is essential, with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must remain alert throughout the entire shift, including breaks.
  • Ability to operate a multi-passenger vehicle and assist passengers as needed.
  • Majority of time spent in community settings, requiring travel in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to transport computer equipment and navigate stairs as necessary.
