Mental Health Partnerships (MHP) is seeking a dedicated full-time Community Engagement Specialist to foster connections and establish trust with individuals facing homelessness. This role is pivotal in providing essential resources and facilitating access to shelters, safe havens, and supportive environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize personal experiences to cultivate meaningful relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness or economic challenges, particularly those with behavioral health needs.
  • Assist participants in identifying and utilizing community resources to build natural support systems that enhance their success.
  • Connect individuals to temporary housing options, ensuring they receive the necessary support and transportation to various community facilities.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services as required.
  • Adhere to all MHP policies and procedures, reporting any violations or concerns to management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support MHP's mission.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals facing homelessness, mental health issues, or substance use challenges.
  • Certification as a Peer Specialist is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Basic computer proficiency is essential, including skills in desktop applications, email, and electronic health records.
  • Ability to manage data entry on mobile devices while in the field.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with a partner and complete assignments as directed.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude and deliver exceptional customer service under pressure.
  • All new hires must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with accommodations available for qualifying medical or religious exemptions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit at a desk with appropriate ergonomic equipment.
  • Lift items weighing up to 15 lbs.
  • Engage in frequent communication, requiring clear speech and active listening skills.
  • Maintain punctual attendance and flexibility for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as necessary.
  • Remain alert throughout the entire shift, including during breaks.
  • Drive a multi-passenger vehicle and assist passengers as needed.
  • Spend the majority of time in community settings, which may involve navigating challenging weather conditions.
  • Capable of transporting computer equipment and managing stairs while carrying items.
