Community Engagement Specialist

This position focuses on connecting with individuals facing homelessness to foster trust, evaluate their needs, and link them with suitable support services. Working closely with various partners, Community Engagement Specialists aim to promote long-term stability for clients through access to housing, employment, and healthcare services. Furthermore, they assist with essential needs such as food, clothing, and transportation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct surveys in designated service areas and provide relevant services to clients
  • Serve as a point of contact in public interactions and report community concerns
  • Manage surveys related to homelessness and panhandling in assigned locations
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and supervisors
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of necessary documentation
  • Maintain equipment, adhere to policies and procedures, and comply with legal requirements
  • Achieve certification in CPR and First Aid

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in social services or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Preferred experience in homeless programs and issues related to mental health/substance abuse
  • Outgoing demeanor with strong customer service abilities
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team
  • Pass required assessments and background checks

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to utilize handheld devices and stand/walk for extended durations
  • Capacity to carry necessary equipment and monitor activities within designated areas
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions

Compensation: $22.00 per hour
