Position Overview

GREATER PHILADELPHIA URBAN AFFAIRS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the construction sector's diversity in Philadelphia. Collaborating with major developers, property owners, contractors, trade associations, and unions, we strive to create opportunities for underrepresented contractors and workers to contribute significantly to the city's development.

The Outreach & Engagement Coordinator (OEC) is a Full-Time, exempt role that plays a vital part in our mission. This position focuses on workforce programming, community engagement, and supporting our partners and participants. The OEC will be responsible for increasing program visibility, assisting in participant recruitment, and facilitating outreach and engagement initiatives. By working closely with the Manager of Workforce Programs, the OEC will help ensure that our participants and graduates thrive, paving the way for diverse groups in the construction field.

Key Responsibilities

Awareness & Engagement
  • Assist in all activities related to workforce awareness and community engagement, including creating outreach materials, attending recruitment meetings, and coordinating informational sessions.
  • Support the planning and execution of events to promote GREATER PHILADELPHIA URBAN AFFAIRS and its workforce program partners.
  • Establish and maintain a network of local social service providers to ensure participants have access to essential resources.
  • Build and nurture relationships with stakeholders in the construction industry, particularly trade unions and contractors.
Supportive Services
  • Provide individualized support to participants and graduates to address barriers to program completion and employment.
  • Coordinate monthly engagement calls and workshops for program participants, including preparation of materials and follow-up actions.
  • Conduct regular outreach to program graduates to assess their needs and facilitate access to supportive services.
  • Track and evaluate participant progress, customizing support strategies to enhance success.
  • Collaborate with management to manage and distribute funds aimed at reducing barriers for participants.
  • Maintain professional relationships with community partners through effective referrals and resource sharing.
Data Management
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of participant data to ensure accurate tracking of engagement and outcomes.
  • Support the preparation of reports and presentations to communicate insights to stakeholders and team members.
Administrative Duties & Special Projects
  • Perform general administrative tasks as required.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special projects.
  • Attend meetings and events outside of regular hours as necessary.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in workforce development, training, or a related field, with a minimum of one to three years in the construction trades or similar environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively in diverse teams.
  • General case management experience is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Starting annual salary of $55,000, commensurate with education and experience.
