Position Overview:
This role is focused on Electrical System Engineering, requiring a minimum of eight (8) years of experience to develop and execute tasks related to facility power distribution systems (up to 13.8 KV). The position involves overseeing:
- Mission Support planning and coordination
- Equipment Operations and Maintenance
- Electrical project planning
- Facility power system design
- Development of mission test procedures.

The selected candidate will have oversight responsibilities and will manage assigned Medium Voltage power distribution systems, collaborating with the Mission Support Office to facilitate all launch and mission-related activities. Interaction with technical craft labor is essential to maintain the health of assigned systems. The Senior Engineer will work closely with both senior and junior Systems and Design Engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

System Specific:
- Proficient in electrical system protective relaying, Motor Controls, SF6 Gas circuit breakers, and Metal Clad/Vacuum switchgear operation and design.
- Familiarity with Vacuum Fault Interrupters, HV & MV Breakers, and high voltage equipment testing, including analysis of test results and equipment condition assessments.
- Knowledgeable in Power Transformers, Emergency Generators, Photovoltaic systems, UPS/Battery systems, VFDs, Lightning Protection, Grounding and Bonding, and power system controls including SCADA systems and PLC control Logic.
- Capable of designing Medium and Low Voltage facility power distribution systems (Transformers, Substation Switchgear, panelboards, wiring, conduits, and end devices).
- Conduct troubleshooting and design tasks for facility electrical distribution systems with guidance from senior engineers.
- Collaborate with engineers and electricians to uphold engineering processes and industry standards (NFPA, NEMA, NESC, ANSI, NETA, IEC, etc.) for new or existing power systems.
- Adhere to safety practices for electrical systems, including NFPA 70E and OSHA regulations.
- Review relay protection settings and coordination studies to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Maintenance:
- Update asset information in the Maximo database for assigned equipment per the Maintenance Action Request process.
- Develop and maintain job plans and preventive maintenance schedules for assigned equipment in line with operational and industry standards.
- Conduct site visits to diagnose system issues, propose solutions, and provide recommendations for system restoration.
- Assist shop technicians in troubleshooting and repairing electrical control circuits related to assigned equipment as necessary.
- Prepare Technical Anomaly reports and presentations for the Engineering Review Board.

Integrated Operations Support:
- Coordinate mission activities with NASA and other customers to support launch schedules, including test plan development and mission support training certifications.
- Participate in console operations during test and launch activities as required.

Readiness:
- Contribute to System Health and Readiness Program (SHARP) teams.
- Develop and present mission-related briefings to NASA and other stakeholders as needed.
- Conduct readiness assessments of assigned systems and equipment.

Project Support:
- Collaborate with customers and engineering teams to define system specifications and requirements.
- Interface with internal and external clients throughout the design and commissioning phases.
- Support the creation of technical proposals and statements of work.
- Coordinate with CAD drafters and Design Engineers to ensure effective communication.

Other Responsibilities:
- Interpret and provide guidance on single line and schematic drawings for assigned equipment.
- Maintain technical documentation and system specifications.
- Conduct site visits and analyze engineering challenges, proposing viable solutions.
- Assess systems for necessary upgrades to meet new code requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with effective presentation abilities.
- Proficient in using computer systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and industry-specific software.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.

Work Environment:
This position typically involves an office environment with occasional fieldwork. Employees may be required to lift up to 20 pounds and will spend significant time using computer terminals. Safety training and Personal Protective Equipment will be provided for fieldwork.
