Purpose and Scope

Conduct a range of engineering tasks related to elevator and bridge systems throughout project development, design, operation, installation, and maintenance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Execute engineering assignments associated with the operation and maintenance of elevator and bridge systems, including design development, analysis, and review, with minimal supervision.

- Provide support to field technicians for assigned systems, including creating task orders for maintenance work. Troubleshoot and offer technical expertise for any arising technical issues.

- Justify and address preventive maintenance delays for assigned systems. Update and enhance asset information in the maintenance database in accordance with established procedures.

- Actively participate in relevant System Health and Readiness Program (SHARP) teams.

- Collaborate closely with requesters and other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management teams to define system specifications and requirements.

- Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and specifications for systems and subsystems.

- Serve as a direct liaison with internal and external stakeholders at all levels from initial concept through to final design and commissioning, including design reviews and technical meetings to ensure compliance with specifications.

- Conduct site assessments, perform experimental investigations, analyze engineering challenges, propose solutions, and provide recommendations.

- Ensure adherence to engineering documentation standards and testing protocols. Support the development of technical proposals and review the technical content and effort required for proposed scopes of work.

- May assist in the creation of technical proposals and provide feedback on the technical aspects and effort required for the proposed scope of work.

- Develop task order requirements for operations and maintenance documentation updates within specified contractual timelines. Updates may pertain to drawings or job plans for specific systems.

- Effectively coordinate and communicate with CAD drafters, design engineers, or shop personnel through written or verbal means.

- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned or requested.


Education and Experience Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related scientific discipline, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or equivalent.

- Strong communication and analytical skills. Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) certification is preferred or the ability to obtain it post-employment.


Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix), Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 Software, GE/Emerson Electric PLCs and PACSystems PLCs, and GE/Emerson Proficy Machine Edition Software.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain necessary clearances as required by the position.
- Must possess effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

- Must possess the dexterity to perform all duties required in both office and field settings, including standing, walking, using hands, stretching, stooping, and kneeling.

- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

- Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

- While performing the duties of this role, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration.

- The employee may occasionally encounter wet and/or humid conditions, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and the risk of electrical shock.

- The noise level in the work environment is typically loud.
