Position Overview:

The COMET contract oversees the management and execution of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at a prominent space center. This role supports various significant programs including international space initiatives and exploration systems.

As part of the Electrical Systems Engineering team, you will collaborate with engineers focused on the design and maintenance of new and existing subsystems essential for upcoming missions. These systems encompass a range of AC and DC power solutions necessary for vehicle processing and launch, ground interfaces, and transport systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply engineering expertise to execute electrical engineering projects that fulfill stakeholder expectations and system requirements.
  • Assist in the design of electrical Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Ground Support Systems (GSS), including power distribution and safety systems.
  • Collaborate with design teams to modify existing electrical systems.
  • Develop conceptual design packages, conduct feasibility studies, and prepare technical assessments for new and existing projects.
  • Perform risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct electrical calculations for load management and equipment sizing.
  • Design and implement verification plans to validate system performance.
  • Interface effectively with clients and ensure project completion within timelines and budgets.
  • Enhance professional knowledge through continuous learning and networking.
  • Contribute to team objectives by achieving related outcomes.
  • Execute additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field from an accredited institution.

  • Experience with GSE and GSS for space vehicle launches is preferred.
  • Familiarity with design processes and requirements is advantageous.
  • Background in power systems and instrumentation design is beneficial.
  • Experience with electrical analysis and system coordination is desirable.
  • Knowledge of control systems and automated testing equipment is a plus.
  • Experience with hazardous environment systems is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations is preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD software is beneficial.
  • Experience with work authorization tools is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Capability to present information to management and clients.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • Must be able to obtain necessary security clearance.

Physical and Work Environment:

Position may require climbing and accessing equipment for troubleshooting. Personal protective equipment will be necessary. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, with potential travel across the facility.

Attendance Requirements:

Hybrid work schedules are available, with a minimum on-site presence required. Overtime and weekend work may be necessary based on project demands.

Additional Responsibilities:

Effective communication is essential, both in writing and verbally. Travel may be required to fulfill job responsibilities. Adherence to workplace safety and professional conduct is mandatory.
