Position Overview:

The Consolidated Operations, Management, Engineering, and Test (COMET) contract oversees the comprehensive management and execution of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at a prominent space center. These responsibilities support various space exploration initiatives.

As part of the Electrical Systems Engineering team, you will collaborate with engineers dedicated to the design and maintenance of both new and existing subsystems that support significant space missions. These systems encompass a range of AC and DC power systems essential for vehicle processing and launch, ground-to-flight interface systems, and the transport mechanisms that facilitate the movement of launch structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply engineering expertise to execute electrical engineering projects for flight and ground systems that align with stakeholder expectations and operational requirements.
  • Assist in the design of electrical Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Ground Support Systems (GSS), including AC/DC power distribution and safety systems.
  • Collaborate with design teams to implement modifications to existing electrical systems.
  • Develop conceptual design packages, conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, and cost estimations for new and modified design projects.
  • Perform arc flash risk assessments and generate reports to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct electrical circuit calculations, including load assessments and equipment sizing.
  • Establish and execute design verification plans and testing methodologies to validate system performance and achieve certification.
  • Interface effectively with clients and ensure timely completion of tasks within budgetary constraints.
  • Enhance professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and participation in professional organizations.
  • Contribute to team objectives by achieving related outcomes as required.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering or a related technical field from an accredited institution.

We may consider candidates at various experience levels based on qualifications and business requirements.

  • Experience with GSE and GSS for spaceflight vehicle launches is preferred.
  • Familiarity with design development processes and requirements is advantageous.
  • Background in power systems design and control instrumentation is beneficial.
  • Experience with short circuit analyses, load flow studies, and protective relay settings is desirable.
  • Knowledge of PLC control systems and automated testing equipment is a plus.
  • Experience designing systems for hazardous environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in CAD software is advantageous.
  • Experience with work authorization tools is desirable.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Capability to present information to management and clients.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

Must be able to navigate various work environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, and access equipment for troubleshooting. Compliance with safety protocols is essential.

Attendance Expectations:
