Position Overview:
The COMET contract encompasses the comprehensive management and execution of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations. This role supports various high-profile programs.
As part of the Electrical Systems Engineering team, you will collaborate with engineers focused on the design and maintenance of both new and existing subsystems that are critical for mission success. These systems include a variety of power systems necessary for vehicle processing and launch, as well as essential ground-to-flight interfaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply engineering principles to execute electrical engineering projects that align with stakeholder expectations and system requirements.
- Assist in the design of electrical Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Ground Support Systems (GSS), including AC/DC power distribution and safety systems.
- Collaborate with design teams to modify existing electrical systems.
- Develop conceptual design packages, conduct feasibility studies, and create technical assessments to support new and existing design projects.
- Conduct arc flash risk assessments and ensure compliance with relevant safety standards.
- Perform calculations related to electrical loads, equipment sizing, and voltage drops.
- Design and implement verification plans to validate system performance against requirements.
- Interface effectively with stakeholders to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
- Enhance professional knowledge through continuous learning and participation in industry networks.
- Contribute to team objectives by achieving related results.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
We may consider candidates at various experience levels based on qualifications and business needs.
- Experience with GSE and GSS for spaceflight vehicle launches is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with NASA design processes and requirements is a plus.
- Proficiency in power systems design and control systems is preferred.
- Experience with electrical analysis and protective relay settings is beneficial.
- Knowledge of PLC control systems and automated testing equipment is advantageous.
- Experience in designing systems for hazardous environments is a plus.
- Familiarity with NFPA standards is desirable.
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or Microstation is beneficial.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics is essential.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if necessary.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
Position may require climbing, wearing protective equipment, and extended periods of sitting or standing. Must be able to navigate various terrains and work safely in compliance with all safety standards.
Attendance Expectations:
Hybrid work schedule with a minimum on-site presence required. Occasional overtime and weekend work may be necessary.
Essential Functions:
Must communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Travel may be required to fulfill job responsibilities. Professional attire and behavior are expected at all times.
