Job Responsibilities
As a Critical Care Nurse in the CVICU, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough patient assessments and developing individualized care plans.
- Implementing and evaluating care strategies, adjusting plans based on patient responses.
- Documenting nursing interventions and patient outcomes accurately.
- Providing educational resources to patients and their families regarding care and treatment options.
- Administering medications and performing treatments in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Managing IV fluids and medications, including venipuncture procedures.
- Reviewing and executing physician orders while ensuring proper documentation.
- Communicating changes in patient status to the Charge Nurse and medical team.
- Delivering care to critically ill patients with advanced monitoring and support systems.
- Providing care for unstable cardiac patients and those recovering from surgery.
Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care environment, with recent critical care experience preferred.
Education:
Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a Compact RN license (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire). Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required. Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) and Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certifications are preferred.
