Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) in the CVICU, your responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting patient assessments and developing individualized care plans.
  • Implementing and evaluating care while directing and supervising non-licensed personnel.
  • Documenting patient assessments upon admission and revising care plans based on patient responses.
  • Providing educational resources to patients and families regarding care and treatment options.
  • Administering medications and performing treatments in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Managing IV fluids and medications, including venipuncture.
  • Reviewing and ensuring the accurate execution of physician orders.
  • Communicating changes in patient status to the Charge Nurse and physician.
  • Providing comprehensive care for critically ill patients, including those with central lines, hemodynamic monitoring, and mechanical ventilation.
  • Delivering care for unstable cardiac patients and those in immediate post-operative recovery.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in an acute care environment.
  • Recent experience in critical care is preferred.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification preferred.
