Position Overview

The Event Sales Manager will take charge of cultivating and overseeing the overall sales and revenue streams while managing the operations related to special events and Group Sales at Sky View Observatory. This role will also include directing local tourism sales initiatives and serving as a liaison for corporate travel and tourism sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Identify, analyze, and develop revenue-generating opportunities for special events, including but not limited to corporate gatherings, social events, meetings, conferences, promotional activities, and weddings.
  2. Proactively seek new business through various methods such as sales calls, presentations, participation in local trade shows, and other client outreach efforts to expand the organization's potential client database.
  3. Establish leads and foster long-term relationships within the event planning, production, and promotion sectors, as well as with relevant companies and organizations.
  4. Stay informed about trends and developments in the special events industry.
  5. Collaborate closely with Legends' operations, food and beverage, and merchandise departments to ensure seamless event execution.
  6. Conduct regular meetings with the operations team to present event details and workflows, ensuring efficiency in special events.
  7. Build relationships with vendors and suppliers, including catering services, to provide comprehensive solutions for clients.
  8. Oversee all logistics related to organization-specific events, including managing the events calendar, conducting venue walkthroughs, and serving as the primary contact for clients.
  9. Prepare and submit necessary reports to the General Manager/Director of Sales and Operations Team, including revenue reports, profit and loss statements, sales summaries, and forecasts.
  10. Gather client feedback post-event to assess satisfaction levels, organizational performance, and any event-related risks.
  11. Engage in outreach to establish local tourism partnerships with hotels, concierges, CVBs, DMOs, and other attractions.
  12. Assist the Corporate Director of Travel Trade with tourism sales initiatives.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty at the highest level. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Three to five years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Innovative and resourceful mindset with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Strong expertise in financial analysis, planning, budgeting, and marketing.
  • Familiarity with local and regional markets, venue operations, and the special events industry.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in evaluating risks and liabilities associated with special events and venue rentals.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheet, database, CRM, and word processing software.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Trustworthy and committed to honest communication at all organizational levels.
  • Strong ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Adaptable to changing trends and circumstances, welcoming new perspectives and learning from past experiences.
  • Organizational skills to manage projects efficiently and create effective workflows.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • Physical ability to stand, sit, and use hands for various tasks.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this role include close and distance vision.
  • Maintain a moderate noise level in the work environment.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures, reporting any unsafe conditions, and completing safety training.
  • Document all safety incidents in the company's risk management system on the same day they occur.
