Position Overview

As the Senior Director within the Central Annual Giving team at UCLA, we invite you to bring your enthusiasm for innovation and strategic development to enhance our annual and special gifts initiatives. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with our Senior Executive Director and engage with leadership and fundraising teams across the campus to articulate program goals and deliver targeted strategies that drive the success of annual giving efforts at UCLA.

Your responsibilities will include active participation in strategic planning and overseeing operational systems for digital fundraising, communications, and telemarketing efforts aimed at solicitation, engagement, and stewardship of UCLA Annual Giving. This position presents an excellent opportunity to leverage your expertise in fundraising and annual giving operations while leading and mentoring staff to advance your career.

Additionally, you will work in partnership with colleagues on data management, enhancing system performance, managing reporting and tracking, and providing insightful analysis to inform strategic direction. Compensation and Benefits

*UCLA offers a comprehensive pay range. Actual salary offers will take into account various factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, certifications, and other business considerations. Offers at the upper end of the range are uncommon. Qualifications

  1. At least five years of progressively responsible experience in a fundraising context, with a preference for annual giving or related fields such as sales, marketing, or business development. (Required)
  2. A minimum of five years of advanced data management experience, including a deep understanding of complex segmentation, direct mail, e-communications, and telemarketing. (Required)
  3. Demonstrated experience in trend analysis, forecasting, and report creation/management. (Required)
  4. Strong understanding of data retrieval principles and systems. (Required)
  5. Experience in crafting and executing marketing/solicitation strategies for a major research institution or similar environment focused on constituents. (Required)
  6. Proven management and administrative skills to organize, motivate, and evaluate professional and support staff and volunteers; supervisory skills to oversee staff efforts. (Required)
  7. Comprehensive knowledge of development principles and practices at a major research university or comparable organization, emphasizing annual giving and mass solicitation techniques. (Required)
  8. Proven ability to develop sophisticated strategies for planning, implementing, and managing annual and/or special gift solicitations or similar initiatives; strong capacity to create and interpret analytics to guide strategy. (Required)
  9. Excellent analytical and organizational skills to develop innovative, credible solutions, recommendations, and programs, as well as to define and implement communication plans, events, and fundraising strategies. (Required)
  10. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve fundraising objectives. (Required)
  11. Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and oversee multi-phase projects from inception to completion while meeting tight deadlines with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment. (Required)
  12. Proven ability to communicate persuasively, both verbally and in writing, regarding UCLA's fundraising objectives and specific priorities of Annual Giving; equally adept at listening and demonstrating sensitivity and awareness. (Required)
  13. Strong writing skills to produce business correspondence, solicitation materials, acknowledgment letters, proposals, reports, and other relevant communications. (Required)
  14. Unwavering integrity and discretion in dealing with donors, alumni, students, administrators, and colleagues, as well as handling confidential information. (Required)
  15. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, along with familiarity with other applications, programs, and databases, and a willingness to learn new technologies. (Required)
  16. Knowledge of university policies and procedures to coordinate necessary services and goods for program implementation. (Preferred)
