Position Overview

The Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy is a pivotal leader within the Corporate Strategy team, directly reporting to the Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Development. This role is essential in orchestrating and overseeing the organization’s strategic planning processes, corporate strategy initiatives, and managing competitive intelligence and management reporting teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the comprehensive annual strategic planning cycle, which includes refreshing the long-term corporate strategic plan. This involves facilitating executive strategic planning sessions, fostering cross-enterprise consensus, and developing effective communications and presentations.
  • Serve as the principal leader on corporate-level strategic initiatives, providing support for Board and executive meetings.
  • Direct the competitive intelligence function to deliver timely, actionable insights on the competitive landscape and industry trends.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory, risk, and audit partners, actively participating in meetings and discussions regarding regulatory aspects of Corporate Strategy reporting.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate strategy, with substantial expertise in research, strategy development, and consulting.
  • Proven track record in managing and leading teams of business strategy and development professionals, particularly within the financial services sector.
  • Demonstrated capability to construct and implement strategic plans across a geographically diverse organization.
  • Experience in navigating complex, matrix management environments.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, comfortable engaging with senior executives and large audiences.

The ideal candidate will be a courageous leader who fosters followership and cultivates high-performing, diverse, cross-functional teams. They should be client-focused, intellectually curious, and well-versed in financial services.

Additionally, the candidate should excel in initiating and nurturing authentic relationships both internally and externally, collaborating effectively to align objectives across organizational silos, especially with senior executives.

Results-oriented, the candidate will take initiative and adeptly distill strategy, analytics, and diverse inputs to drive decisions and ensure execution.

Experience in consulting with various management levels and collaborating with different groups within the organization is essential.

As an inspirational leader, the candidate will advocate for innovative ideas, take calculated risks, and prioritize effectively, making tough decisions when necessary.

Experience in assessing, selecting, and developing talent is crucial, along with the ability to provide balanced, direct, and actionable feedback to team members.

Strong emotional intelligence, maturity, and a commanding executive presence are required, along with a Bachelor's degree and an MBA or equivalent experience.
