Position Summary
The Liberty Hill Foundation is in search of a skilled Senior Grants Manager to oversee Foundation and Government Grants. Reporting to the VP of Advancement, this essential position will focus on leading initiatives to secure and manage grants from a variety of external sources.
As the Senior Grants Manager, you will be instrumental in identifying and assessing grant opportunities and will serve as the primary writer for grant proposals. Your role will encompass the comprehensive management of the grant lifecycle, from initial research to final reporting.
We seek a proactive individual with extensive experience in crafting and submitting grant proposals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in navigating grant processes and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams to ensure the submission of compelling proposals.

Key Responsibilities
Proposal Development and Management:
- Lead the writing, budgeting, and submission of grant proposals, collaborating closely with program and finance teams.
- Oversee the entire grant lifecycle to ensure all necessary documentation is organized, deadlines are met, and compliance is maintained.
- Maintain detailed grant calendars to track submission deadlines and ensure timely delivery of proposals and reports.
- Work with program staff and external partners to gather essential information for grant applications and reporting requirements.
Relationship Building:
- Partner with the Advancement team and program staff to identify strategic funding opportunities that align with the organization’s goals.
- Assist in cultivating and maintaining relationships with foundation and government funders to enhance partnerships and discover new funding avenues.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Coordinate with the Director of Foundation and Government Grants to align grantmaking activities with programmatic objectives, ensuring coherence in submissions.
- Facilitate ongoing communication and information sharing between program staff and funders to ensure alignment and responsiveness to expectations.
Grant Strategy and Evaluation:
- Contribute to strategic planning efforts to establish and monitor fundraising goals related to foundation and government grants.
- Support the development of grantmaking strategies in collaboration with senior leadership and program staff, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission.
- Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in foundation and government grantmaking to enhance the organization’s grant strategy.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Education: BS/BA Degree or equivalent personal/professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in securing and managing foundation and government grants, including grant writing and reporting.
- 3+ years of grant writing experience in nonprofit environments managing significant grants. Experience with federal grants is advantageous.
- Proven success in securing and managing grants from foundation and government sources.
- Familiarity with the funding landscape in Los Angeles County is preferred.
