About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Director to join our Central Annual Giving team at the University of California Los Angeles. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in enhancing our annual and special gifts initiatives and projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to drive annual giving and special gifts initiatives
  • Collaborate with leadership and fundraisers campus-wide to communicate program objectives and provide targeted approaches to ensure success
  • Manage strategic planning, operational systems, and data management for digital fundraising, communications, and telemarketing
  • Lead and manage staff to grow and develop annual giving efforts
  • Work closely with colleagues and staff on data management, optimizing systems performance, managing reporting, and providing analysis to inform strategy
Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in a fundraising environment, preferably in annual giving and/or related fields such as sales, marketing, or business development
  • Minimum of five years of progressively advanced data management experience, including sophisticated knowledge of complex segmentation, direct mail, e-communications, and telemarketing
  • Strong experience analyzing trends, providing forecasts, and creating/managing reports
  • Strong experience and understanding of data query principles and systems
  • Experience in developing and executing marketing/solicitation strategies for a major research institution and/or related environment
  • Appropriate management and administrative experience and skills to organize, direct, motivate, and evaluate professional and support staff and volunteers
  • Progressive knowledge of the principles and practices of development at a major research university or comparable organization, with emphasis on annual giving and/or related mass solicitation techniques
  • Proven skills in developing sophisticated strategies in planning, implementing, and administering annual and/or special gift solicitations or other solicitations of a similar nature, level, and complexity
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to develop creative, credible solutions, recommendations, and programs, as well as to define and implement communications plans, events, and other fundraising strategies and initiatives
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to work harmoniously with a wide variety of internal and external constituents towards the accomplishment of fundraising goals
  • Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple tasks and multi-phase projects simultaneously from inception to completion, and complete work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively, both orally and in writing, about UCLA's fundraising goals and the specific priorities of UCLA Annual Giving
  • Excellent writing skills to produce business correspondence, solicitations materials, letters of acknowledgement, proposals to individuals, corporations, and foundations, reports, and other pertinent written communications
  • Impeccable integrity and discretion in dealing with donors, alumni, students, administrators, and colleagues, as well as confidential information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of applications, including strong skills in Excel, and familiarity with other applications, programs, and databases as needed, with a willingness to learn new technologies
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures to coordinate services and goods necessary to implement programs
