Role Overview

As the Senior Director within the Central Annual Giving team at UCLA, we invite you to bring your enthusiasm for innovation and strategic development to enhance our annual and special gifts initiatives. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with our Senior Executive Director and engage with leadership and fundraising teams across the campus. Your responsibilities will include articulating program goals and implementing effective strategies to ensure the success of annual giving efforts at UCLA.

You will take an active role in strategic planning and managing operational systems for our digital fundraising, communications, and telemarketing initiatives aimed at solicitation, engagement, and stewardship of UCLA Annual Giving. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in fundraising and annual giving operations while guiding and mentoring staff to advance your career.

Collaboration with colleagues on data management, optimizing system performance, and conducting analysis to inform strategy will be essential to your success. Compensation and Benefits

Required Qualifications

  1. At least five years of progressively responsible experience in a fundraising environment, particularly in annual giving or related fields such as sales, marketing, or business development. (Required)
  2. A minimum of five years of advanced data management experience, including a strong understanding of complex segmentation, direct mail, e-communications, and telemarketing. (Required)
  3. Demonstrated experience in trend analysis, forecasting, and report management. (Required)
  4. Solid understanding of data query principles and systems. (Required)
  5. Experience in crafting and executing marketing and solicitation strategies for major research institutions or similar environments. (Required)
  6. Proven management and administrative skills to effectively lead, motivate, and evaluate professional and support staff. (Required)
  7. Comprehensive knowledge of development principles and practices at a major research university or similar organization, with a focus on annual giving and mass solicitation techniques. (Required)
  8. Proven ability to develop sophisticated strategies for planning, implementing, and managing annual and special gift solicitations, along with strong analytical skills to guide strategy. (Required)
  9. Exceptional analytical and organizational skills to create innovative solutions and implement effective communications plans and fundraising initiatives. (Required)
  10. Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders towards achieving fundraising objectives. (Required)
  11. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects from inception to completion under tight deadlines. (Required)
  12. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to articulate UCLA's fundraising goals and priorities effectively. (Required)
  13. Outstanding writing abilities to produce various written communications, including business correspondence, solicitation materials, and reports. (Required)
  14. High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information and interactions with donors and colleagues. (Required)
  15. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, along with a willingness to learn new technologies. (Required)
  16. Familiarity with university policies and procedures to coordinate necessary services and goods for program implementation. (Preferred)
