Position OverviewWe are in search of a highly skilled Investment Accounting Manager to play a pivotal role within our Investment Accounting division. This position entails overseeing the daily operations of the team, ensuring a meticulous approach to accounting and the financial closing procedures. The Investment Accounting Manager will uphold the integrity of the Investment Accounting's accounting standards, internal controls, and financial reporting. This role also includes mentoring and providing practical training to accounting team members while driving process enhancements.
The Investment Accounting Manager will report directly to the Investment Controller and will initially supervise one senior accountant and one staff accountant.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee daily accounting operations and manage the month-end closing activities.
- Ensure the Investment Accounting function is maintained for various investment types, including single loans, loan portfolios, preferred equity, and operational real estate.
- Enhance processes and timelines for monthly closing, conduct analytical reviews of monthly results, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Develop and assess accretion calculations, monthly accruals, and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with operational teams to identify changes in hold/disposition assumptions requiring accretion adjustments.
- Review and comprehend deal documentation, including partnership and joint venture agreements.
- Monitor consolidation and elimination entries for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare supporting schedules and gather information for regulatory reporting.
- Review contributions, distributions, and loan draws.
- Provide mentorship and training to the Investment Accounting Senior and Staff, including the creation and upkeep of the accounting procedures manual.
- Assist in the implementation of new accounting systems.
- Maintain and update the preparation of the annual budget, track operating results, and adjust forecasts as necessary.
- Coordinate with both internal and external auditors.
- 6-8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in public accounting.
- CPA designation is preferred.
- Experience in the real estate/REIT or financial services sectors is strongly preferred, with a background in investment management or private equity being advantageous.
- Intermediate knowledge of financial modeling and concepts, including yields, DCF, cap rates, and IRRs.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Exhibit a positive leadership style and the ability to thrive under pressure.
- Strong analytical, operational, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
This role is situated in a standard office environment with no unusual exposures. Overtime may be necessary.
