Financial Administrative Coordinator

Asbury United Methodist Church

Role Summary:

The Financial Administrative Coordinator will act as the internal financial officer for the Church, providing support to external accountants in managing financial transactions and generating financial reports. This role is accountable to the Senior Pastor.

Asbury United Methodist Church is situated in the suburbs of Allentown, PA, with a mission focused on fostering a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ. The congregation currently sees an average attendance of 400 individuals weekly.

Part-time Commitment: 20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and manage invoices for payment.
  • Scan checks for deposit purposes.
  • Handle cash deposits from weekly offerings.
  • Review and oversee payroll processes.
  • Input offerings into Pushpay, the automated giving platform.
  • Ensure accurate general ledger account allocations for credit card transactions.
  • Assist congregation members with inquiries regarding their giving statements.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Pastor to review monthly financial statements.
  • Work alongside the Asbury Board finance representative to evaluate internal control measures of the Church's accounting system annually.
  • Prepare quarterly financial reports for the Asbury Board.
  • Draft the annual budget in collaboration with the budget team for review and approval by the Asbury Board.
  • Compile financial reports as required by the Conference.
  • Perform accounting tasks and serve as the primary contact for 'Asbury in Mission' accounting payments and records.
  • Manage human resources files.
  • Update the employee handbook and policies as necessary.
  • Prepare Excel spreadsheets with data on worship attendance.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of an associate degree in accounting from an accredited institution.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Experience within a church setting is advantageous.
