EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The role of Executive Director at the Black Child Development Institute of Wisconsin offers a unique chance to significantly influence the lives of children and families in Southeast Wisconsin.

This is a full-time, salaried position responsible for formulating and implementing the organization's strategic vision, managing all initiatives, collaborations, and policies. The Executive Director will also oversee daily operations, advance the organization’s mission and vision, provide leadership to staff, and report directly to the Board of Directors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads strategic initiatives to promote the mission of BCDI-Wisconsin.
  • Designs and executes strategic plans, policies, and programs to meet organizational objectives.
  • Ensures financial health through effective budgeting, fundraising, and grant management.
  • Manages all facets of organizational operations, including finance, human resources, and program development.
  • Supervises daily operations, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and administrative guidelines.
  • Builds and sustains strong partnerships with community stakeholders, donors, and organizations.
  • Guides and develops a committed team, fostering professional growth and a positive workplace culture.
  • Acts as the organization's representative in public discussions, advocacy, and community collaborations to enhance awareness and support for BCDI-Wisconsin's mission.
  • Advocates for the interests of children and families in the community, raising awareness and support for key focus areas and outcomes.

Strategic Leadership

Directs and executes BCDI-Wisconsin's strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors, ensuring the successful implementation of annual program objectives within budgetary constraints.

Financial Oversight and Fundraising

Develops and manages the annual budget, adhering to established financial protocols. Prepares monthly financial reports and forecasts, presenting them to the Board. Conducts financial audits and oversees grant applications to secure funding from various sources.

Organizational Advancement

Keeps the Board informed of organizational progress and funding status through regular updates and meetings. Identifies opportunities for program expansion and development.

Community Outreach and Engagement

Monitors the organization's progress and prepares reports on metrics for external communication. Represents BCDI-Wisconsin on boards and committees aligned with organizational goals. Leads marketing and public relations efforts to enhance visibility and support.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides leadership and oversight for the BCDI office, staff, and volunteers. Implements personnel policies, oversees recruitment and training, and fosters a safe and engaging work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, education, child development, public health, or a related field is preferred. An associate degree with relevant experience may be considered. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a community organization is required.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with excellent communication abilities.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with fundraising, financial management, and grant writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and various social media platforms.
  • Experience with database software and website management is advantageous.
  • Must possess a personal vehicle and valid insurance, and be able to pass background checks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in a professional office setting and involves community engagement. All employees must comply with vaccination requirements or secure exemptions.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Flexible office hours, Monday to Friday.
  • Evenings and weekends may be required for community engagement activities.
