COMMUNITY CONSORTIUM COORDINATOR


The Black Child Development Institute of Wisconsin (BCDI-Wisconsin) is seeking a self-motivated, Community Consortium Coordinator. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Community Consortium Coordinator plays a critical role with responsibility to convene partner organizations and community members to work together to strengthen, coordinate and execute activities that support the desired outcomes of BCDI-Wisconsin. Responsibilities also include overseeing the development and implementation of the community consortium plan to address social determinants for health, ensuring our partner outcomes are being achieved (Children’s Wisconsin). The Community Consortium Coordinator participates in our Healthy Start community of practices and other TA opportunities.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee development and implementation of the community consortium plan to address social determinants for health, ensuring our partner outcomes are being achieved (Children’s Wisconsin)
  • Participate in our Healthy Start community of practices and other TA opportunities
  • Develop a cross sector of partnerships to ensure access to care and community-based resources by recruiting community members and partner organizations to be part of the Community Consortium. Representation must include members from public health departments, hospitals, health centers, state substance use agencies and other significant sources of health care services.
  • Host and/or coordinate educational activities and events; community consortium trainings and/or webinars to ensure a strong and healthy community consortium
  • Engage consortium members between meetings with ongoing contact. (outreach and follow up after meetings)
  • Complete monthly report for Board of Directors and required Grantmakers that includes accomplishments and progress toward plan implementation and desired outcomes
  • Regularly report out/disseminate information to community members and partners on Community Consortium progress towards achieving goals/objectives


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, child development, public health or related field, preferred. We will also consider an Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience. Requires 2-3 years of relevant experience.


  • Knowledge or experience working with programs linked to the social determinants of Black families, disparities they encounter or programs that impact outcomes of Black children.


  • Demonstrated experience working with a cross sector of community organizations to achieve a common goal, specifically must have community outreach experience, with understanding of the emerging needs and social determinants that impact Black children or communities where they live.


  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds


  • Ability to recruit and work with families that have lived experience, empowering them with autonomy to participate in consortium planning and decision-making processes.


  • Ability to support coordination of education, community activities and facilitate meetings in diverse settings including virtual meeting platforms.


  • Excellent communication, including oral, written, interpersonal and collaboration skills are required.


  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs, Google Docs and various social media platforms.


  • Must have personal vehicle with acceptable auto insurance, ability to pass required background check and verifications,

  • Knowledge of social service or education programs
  • Effective time management, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint), as well as social media sites

This job operates in a professional office environment, and also works with the public in community settings. All BCDI-Wisconsin employees must be fully vaccinated or approved for a medical or religious exemption. Local travel to community organizations, businesses or schools may be required.


WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Flexible Office Hours: Monday to Friday.
  • Evenings and Weekends (based upon community engagement activities)

WORK LOCATION: BCDI-WICSONSIN Headquarters, 6051 W. Brown Deer Road, Brown Deer, WI. Onsite, full-time, Monday – Friday, with flexible hours. Occasional travel to Racine, WI area to support broader community engagement.
