Overview: The Head of HR IT is tasked with delivering both strategic and operational leadership to a significant department that encompasses nearly 1,300 full-time employees across various locations. This role reports directly to the VP and Chief Information Officer and is essential in shaping the HR strategies that attract, engage, and retain top-tier IT talent within a complex organizational structure.

Strategic Planning:

  • Formulate and implement HR initiatives that align with the overarching goals of the organization.
  • Provide strategic insights and analyses to support the identification, selection, onboarding, and retention of IT staff.
  • Foster collaboration and influence among leadership to build trust and credibility within the IT and HR domains.
  • Oversee staff integrations in response to organizational decisions affecting external units.

Employee Engagement and Development:

  • Partner with management to boost employee engagement through surveys and action plans.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance retention and attraction of talent through structured feedback programs.
  • Ensure transparency in promotional opportunities and communicate job openings effectively.
  • Create pathways for career development for high-performing employees.
  • Advise on employee development, change management, and performance management.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

  • Design and implement a strategic plan for HR diversity initiatives.
  • Oversee the Diversity and Development Council, aligning efforts with institutional diversity goals.
  • Build partnerships with organizations that promote diverse talent acquisition.
  • Maintain a dashboard for staff composition analysis regarding diversity metrics.
  • Manage internship programs aimed at high school and college students, ensuring equitable recruitment practices.

Training and Development:

  • Lead the creation and delivery of HR training programs to meet compliance and skill development needs.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify training opportunities across various platforms.
  • Develop tailored training plans to address specific team needs.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Analyze compensation structures to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.
  • Advise leadership on compensation policies and navigate mixed-employer challenges.
  • Work with compensation teams to recognize individual achievements and skills.
  • Guide managers in resolving compensation-related conflicts.

Compliance:

  • Provide guidance to ensure adherence to organizational policies and regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with federal and state HR requirements and manage investigations.
  • Consult with legal and equity offices on compliance matters.
  • Ensure training compliance on critical topics such as data security and workplace safety.

Talent Acquisition:

  • Support recruitment teams in communication with hiring managers for efficient hiring processes.
  • Develop strategies to attract top talent in a competitive market.
  • Manage referral programs to encourage employee participation in recruitment.
  • Ensure compliance with interviewing practices.

Team Leadership:

  • Guide a team of HR professionals to enhance their skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Support the professional growth of team members through development plans.
  • Provide constructive feedback and invest in team capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive HR management experience, with a preference for senior leadership experience.
  • Master's degree and HR certifications are preferred.
