Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and guidance on human resources-related matters, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Human Resource Operations
    • Provide leadership and guidance on human resources policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Develop and implement training programs for HR staff on human resources policies and procedures.
    • Partner with administrators, managers, and supervisors to identify areas where training programs may be beneficial.
    • Offer recommendations to departments and institutes on various training and HR resources available to assist with retention, staff development, performance management, and employee relations.
    • Conduct human resource training and education at monthly departmental HR meetings, focusing on new policies and procedures, compliance matters, upcoming deadlines, and departmental areas of concern.
  • Training & Development
    • Develop and implement training programs for HR staff on human resources policies and procedures.
    • Partner with administrators, managers, and supervisors to identify areas where training programs may be beneficial.
    • Offer recommendations to departments and institutes on various training and HR resources available to assist with retention, staff development, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Contacts
    • Internal: School of Medicine Human Resource Office, JHU Benefits Office, HR/Payroll
    • Shared Services, Legal Counsel, School of Medicine Business Office, Registrar's Office
    • Various other departments and divisions in the School of Medicine
  • Supervision
    • Supervise three full-time HR staff and two Credentialing staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Significant related work experience can be substituted for some formal education.
  • At least seven years (7) progressive management experience in a human resources, financial/administrative capacity, or related field preferably in an academic or medical institution setting.
  • Excellent consulting and negotiation skills to provide appropriate counsel, advice, and work in partnership with management and staff on human resources matters as well as to facilitate and negotiate conflict resolution.
