TRISTAR is seeking a Export Compliance Officer (ECO) for our Corporate Security office in Bloomington, IN, position is 100% Remote

Position Description:

The Export Compliance Officer (ECO) will have the ability to interface with TRISTAR Senior Leadership and corporate staff to provide Subject Matter Expert knowledge and expertise regarding import/export
They will be responsible for ensuring compliance with import/export regulations
They will have successful experience in establishing and maintaining import/export programs and will be certified to act as an Empowered Official on behalf of TRISTAR
The ECO is responsible for ensuring TRISTAR complies with USG trade laws and regulations related to export-related activities
Ensures US export regulations compliance requirements are followed, and the required due diligence is conducted regarding managing authorizations

Position Responsibilities:

Develops, documents, and maintains the export management and compliance program
Evaluates the effectiveness of the export management and compliance program through periodic self-audits
Investigates export compliance issues and determines whether a voluntary self-disclosure is required
Oversees the preparation of voluntary self-disclosures
Serves as the point of contact for questions or inquiries from customers or governmental agencies as they relate to export compliance
Documents, updates, and maintains the Export Compliance Manual
Ensures relevant employee training
Resolves export issues
Maintains ITAR registration with the U.S. Department of State
Submits licensing requests to the U.S. Departments of State and Commerce

Position Requirements:

Knowledge of EAR, ITAR, U.S. Customs regulations, and FCPA
Ability to evaluate classified contracts and establish policy for export compliance
Ability to evaluate and classify products in accordance with the U.S. Munitions List or Commerce Control List
Experience determining export licensing requirements for both dual-use items and defense articles and services under the International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
Ability to identify, document, and apply justifications for ITAR exemptions and EAR exceptions
Stay informed about changes in export control laws and regulations and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders within the organization
Experience processing foreign travel requests
Ability to brief cleared and uncleared employees on foreign travel
Must be a US Citizen
Must have active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working as a DoD contractor supporting classified contracts

Education and Certification:

BA or BS degree and at least 3 years of experience in the field or the equivalent combination of education and experience
eCOP or CUSECO a plus
