KBR has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Business Partner to support programs within the Aerospace Systems Engineering (ASE) Division of our Defense Systems Engineering (DSE) Business Unit. KBR's DSE Business Unit goes beyond providing full spectrum engineering and technical solutions across the lifecycle of DoD military systems on land, at sea, in the air, and in space. The ASE Division delivers differentiated technologies, solutions, and high-end expertise across the DoD Acquisition Lifecycle and is a primary support of the U.S. Air Force.

We are looking for a motivated HR Professional with knowledge of general human resources practices and procedures to join our People Team. Under direct supervision, the selected candidate will work closely with the HR Manager to perform routine assignments and solve standard problems. Collaboration with teammates can be expected to maintain HR support in a fast-moving and demanding environment. The successful candidate will follow documented processes and procedures to deliver HR support to the business and provide proactive and responsive guidance to line managers and employees alike. Job duties require the ability to understand the strategic and operational context of our business, so attention to detail, change management, and organization skills are important.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to Line Management regarding the interpretation and application of human resources policies and procedures while keeping abreast of current employment law issues.
  • Guide and coach managers in managing or counselling personnel with performance, employee relations issues, or discipline.
  • Provide advice to management and participate in disciplinary actions, including the investigation of allegations of misconduct, developing letters of allegation, preparing executive summaries and timelines of events, appeals and grievances, and safekeeping of related letters and documents.
  • Initiate approvals for changes to salary and staffing positions; ensure appropriate approvals are received from budget holders.
  • Support talent development and the annual salary review process.
  • Ensure all records relating to engagement and pay matters are processed correctly and retained for compliance purposes.
  • Review and approve offer of employment requests; provide salary analyses. Facilitate new employee orientation and coordinate onboarding actions between functional partners and hiring managers.
  • Conduct exit interviews and facilitate out-processing of separating employees.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field; in lieu of a degree, eight (8) years of HR experience in a professional business setting is required.
  • Requires effective communication skills both verbally and written with the ability to influence at all levels. Must be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences or facilitate group discussions. Must be able to develop accurate written materials to clearly and concisely communicate information.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in IT skills encompassing fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Requires critical thinking and problem-solving skills to be able to analyze situations, weigh available options, and identify the best course of action.
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal and people management skills to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a large engineering or professional services business with structured HR processes and policies is desired.
  • SHRM-CP or HRCI PHR/SPHR certification in Human Resources Management.
  • DoD (Department of Defense) experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with HR Information Systems such as Workday is highly preferred.
  • Experience with / Knowledge of Service Contract Act populations is highly preferred.

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) Monday-Friday working in a professional office environment. A hybrid schedule of working in the office and from home is available. Some U.S. travel (
