POSITION DUTIES

The Coordinator,\r
Office of Student Support and Federal Programs is responsible for providing\r
evidence- and outcomes-based support to the central administration and\r
coordination of Title I, Part A – Supporting Basic Programs Operated by Local\r
Education Agencies - at the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). The\r
Coordinator provides customer service and assistance in the development and\r
implementation of a state-wide system of support to local education agencies\r
(LEAs) and private agencies to ensure that economically disadvantaged students\r
receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education. Specifically, this\r
position will support LEAs in operationalizing and deploying comprehensive\r
policies and practices that provide high-quality instruction, support, and\r
services to students to accelerate learning, especially for those who have been\r
historically underserved to ensure success for every student; and in support of\r
the MSDE's implementation of the multiyear strategic plan and the Blueprint for\r
Maryland's Future.� \r
Duties include:\r
\r
\r
Researches and\r
compiles best practices for the successful implementation of the Title I, Part\r
A Program.\r
Conducts and documents\r
mandatory LEA visits for specific purposes.\r
Secures resources or\r
support for the LEA Title I Coordinators and other LEA partners.\r
Ensures that LEAs\r
maintain programmatic and fiscal compliance with funds spent on improving the\r
Title I Program.\r
Assists with planning\r
the Title I Administrative Meetings, conferences, institutes, regional\r
trainings, and other branch meetings and professional development.\r
Assists in the\r
development and review of guidelines, regulations, and information\r
publications.\r
Writes reports and\r
position papers related to comprehensive planning, evidence-based school\r
improvement, and Title I.\r
\r
\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:���A\r
Master's degree or the equivalent of 36 credit hours of post-baccalaureate\r
course work from an accredited college or university.\r
Experience:�Five\r
years of administrative or teaching experience in, or affiliated with, an\r
education program, including two years of experience in coordinating or\r
administering an education�program or service directly related to School\r
Improvement or Title I, Part A.\r
Notes:\r
1. Candidates may substitute a\r
Bachelor's Degree with 7 years of the specified content experience to satisfy\r
the Minimum Qualifications noted above.\r
2. Candidates may substitute the\r
possession of a Doctorate degree at an accredited college or university in a\r
field related to the position for one year of the required experience.\r
3. The required field of\r
education and experience are unique for each option and are established by MSDE\r
in accordance with Education Article, Section 2-104 of the Annotated Code\r
of�Maryland.� The specific education and experience qualifications\r
for each position are on record in the Human Resource Management Branch of the\r
Division of Business Services.\r
4. Candidates may substitute U.S.\r
Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Education\r
Program classifications or Education Program specialty codes in the Education\r
field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and\r
education.\r
