Position Overview: Under the supervision of the Director of Student Conduct & Attendance, the Staff Specialist will oversee and facilitate the district's processes related to student discipline and attendance. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with the policies set forth by the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners, as well as state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide training and ongoing support to school-based personnel across elementary, middle, and high schools.
- Collaborate with various district offices to deliver timely information to parents, students, and schools regarding student conduct and attendance.
- Develop and implement transition plans, policies, and procedures for students.
- Engage with students and families to discuss school options for reentry assignments.
- Ensure adherence to compliance requirements related to school assignments and student enrollment.
- Foster effective communication and relationships with school and district leadership.
- Stay informed on current trends, legislation, and resources relevant to student behavior management and attendance.
- Adhere to equal employment and nondiscrimination policies, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data management systems.
- Experience with enrollment management software and student support interventions is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
- Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
