Position Title: Graduate Program Coordinator (Master of Arts in Teaching)

Department: Office of Graduate Studies

Division: Academic Affairs

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Assistant Director of Graduate Studies

Overview: The Graduate Program Coordinator (GPC) plays a vital role in assisting the Program Director to ensure the smooth functioning of the graduate program. GPCs act as student leaders and collaborate with peers and the Office of Graduate Studies to foster communication, information sharing, and timely updates among students, directors, and administrative staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in GPC Training, Graduate Student Orientation, and various meetings, including the Student Voice Association and Graduate Student Council gatherings.
  • Assist the Office of Graduate Admission during open house events and campus visits.
  • Relay crucial information from the Program Director and Office of Graduate Studies to the student body.
  • Address student and program-related issues in collaboration with the Program Director.
  • Oversee the maintenance of shared program spaces, ensuring proper usage and cleanliness.
  • Support the Program Director in organizing program-related events, including lectures and visits from artists and critics.
  • Facilitate various tasks related to the admissions process, including arranging visits for prospective students.
  • Report any technical or maintenance issues to the appropriate departments.

Program-Specific Duties:

This role will enhance your skills in organizing educational events, collaborating with faculty, and engaging fellow students in program activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of program review reports and data organization.
  • Provide support during office hours for students and faculty as needed.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as documentation and event planning.
  • Lead the MICA National Art Education Association (NAEA) Student Chapter.
  • Promote program events and opportunities through various channels.
  • Maintain and update the program's online presence, including social media and website.
  • Coordinate logistics for visiting scholars, including travel and meals.
  • Organize study sessions and events for student teachers.
  • Manage the program's alumni and internship databases.

Qualifications:
  • Current enrollment in the Master of Arts in Teaching program.

Performance Expectations:

The Office of Graduate Studies will evaluate performance and attendance at required events. Consistent participation is essential for continued involvement in the program.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform tasks that may include standing, walking, and lifting up to fifteen pounds.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions and a generally quiet work environment.
