Position Overview:

The Vice President of Underwriting Sales plays a pivotal role in steering the revenue generation strategy for LAist. This leadership position is essential for cultivating and expanding a comprehensive sales approach that leverages our radio, digital, podcast, and live event offerings. The VP will lead the underwriting sales team, driving revenue growth while ensuring alignment with our public service mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement a robust sales strategy that aligns with organizational growth goals.
  • Guide, mentor, and expand a high-performing sales team to surpass revenue objectives and provide outstanding client service.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, promoting professional development and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the digital advertising landscape, proactively identifying trends and opportunities for innovation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing and analytics, to optimize revenue opportunities.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with key clients and industry stakeholders.
  • Establish underwriting revenue targets and manage departmental budgets effectively.
  • Oversee daily sales operations, including pricing strategies and compliance with industry standards.
  • Utilize audience research to inform underwriting strategies and enhance sales effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement underwriting standards and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience in media sales and management.
  • Proven leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and team development.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of media sales processes and marketing principles.
  • Experience with audience research tools and metrics.

Work Environment:
